Description:
Lake Argyle was created when the Ord River was dammed in 1971. Over the last six decades, a population of 350 freshwater crocodiles (Crocodylus johnstoni) has grown to 35,000. The islands created from the peaks and ridges of the Carr Boyd Range make for a perfect habitat, free from predators that normally prey on eggs.
